Garcia product 300

Post by Fishabout »

Well it's been Christmas in September for me after the postman yesterday.
I didn't have a 300 so I thought I better get one a bit special.
1957 model I believe in great condition and how cool does the Bill Burke custom spool look ?

Perhaps some of the old hands could chime in here, but I think that oval sticker is from before '57...maybe '55? They also tended to fall off in use so finding one is not so easy.

As you said, a special 300.

Fishabout,
Yes, a lovely 5th version with one of the hard to find oval stickers. How about a shot of the reverse side? I would also be curious to see if the threads on the handle are cut from the hub or if it has a threaded insert.
Thanks for the pics. :text-coolphotos:
Kind Regards,
Bill :D

Fishabout,
Thanks for posting more photos. :text-thankyouyellow:
Your reel has the smaller, raised, through-hole reinforcements for the slide guide screws. These later went back to more flattened and thinner reinforcements as Wallace has shown us in his book.

I am unable to tell from the photo of the handle which type of threads you have. If you use a magnet you can check for sure, whether or not you have a steel threaded insert or an aluminum threaded hub.
Kind Regards,
Bill :D
