Mitchell 300 logo
Mitchell 300 logo
I bought a Mitchell 300, serial number B64413. I've seen lots of Mitchells and the logo, Mitchell, on the side always looks fine line etched and filled with white paint. This reel has Mitchell in wider letters and the tail underneath widens at it's tip. It's also filled with white paint. I've photographed it but can't get it to upload. It doesn't look etched it looks stamped or cast. Ever run across one? I never have until now.

Re: Mitchell 300 logo
David66,
Welcome to the Mitchell Reel Museum.
Sizing the pics that you want to up load is critical. If you haven't tried keeping the size about 750 pixels wide, try uploading with that.
The earlier Mitchells logo was done with a deeper, wider depth than the later models. Does the side plate have "300" engraved after the Mitchell? Where is the serial number located?

Re: Mitchell 300 logo
David66,
Your Mitchell is one that was produced around 1950/1951, and has type of engraving that they used in those days. It would be considered a 4th version if it has a full bail.

It could be one of the first 4th version
At that moment I also believe the cranks went from aluminum to plastic.
If you can put more photos
