This reel has never been used, price tag is still on it.
Should I use it or just display it?

Not being a collector. My thoughts would be, someone may need it for their collection. Sell it at a fair price, and get something you will use. I was looking for a 600 series. But wouldn't want to use a new in box, for that reason.
Not home retired and fishing! Or playing with my Mitchell's!

I agree with Don,
Mitchells are treasured by collectors and users. Myself being a user, I take old beat up 300's (the most numerous Mitchell model) and clean , strip, treat and repaint to give them longevity in use. if I came across a new in box version, or an old CAP or single bail 300, I would probably flip it to a collector for cost plus postage. That way he could put it into his collection or, if he already had one, trade it to another collector.
Mind you, I only seem to run across beat up 300's here in Nova Scotia. LOL
Best wishes to all I love this site!!
