Hi Simone, those 300DL BALZER reels were produced from 1964 - 1974 according to Dennis Roberts Value Guide. Distributed for the German market and approximately 500 produce in the time span. Pretty low production and very rare. Do you have the wooden box and cardboard sleeve it was shipped in?? Excellent find.

I just bought 2 from a German guy. Both have a wooden box.
One of them has a shop sticker on the rotor.
Both 300DL Balzer.
I only saw 1 DL Balzer sell with the white cardboard outer box, it went too high a price and I didn't like the seller

I can understand not liking the seller part, haha. Dennis's value guide was published in 2006. He valued that reel with only 500 released $1400. Price varies on condition and box or boxes. According to him could vary or swing up or down between 20% - 30%. Would love to see a picture of it.

Hi Glen! that reel with the white outer box is worth the price that was paid. It's probably the best looking 300DL BALZER I've seen and you won't find a better one.
The conditions of everything are excellent.
The number is also present in the outer box.
That reel was for sale in an auction where I participated, without explanation it disappeared and appeared immediately after on ebay.
The seller seemed to me a clever commentator, nothing more.
On top of that he joined Mitchell groups at that time just to advertise that sale without ever being clear about what had happened days before, and then quit the groups after the auction ended.
This is not important today, that is a fantastic reel.
The Balzers I bought appeared in a facebook group a few days ago, 1 is perfect while the other has slight signs of wear.A guy who doesn't need it today has reached an agreement with me and is happy they go to a collection where will be appreciated.
I just add the photo of the sticker that appears in the rotor, maybe someone can recognize the shop where they were once bought.

Sorry Kim, my answer was addressed to you but I got confused with Glen, I take this opportunity to tell you that I also keep the Book you are talking about, I keep it with great care and I find its values still very current after 15 years.
I publish the photo of mine, it belonged to the writer and it is an honor for me to be able to browse it.
Dennis was a collector who deserves the esteem of all of us for the information he has collected and left us and for the passion he has shown and transmitted.

Though I don't consider myself a collector. Is this book you talk of, something one must buy, or is it downable?

Not home retired and fishing! Or playing with my Mitchell's!

This book went out for sale 15 years ago.
Today you can find it if someone decides to sell it.
There is no version to download online.
Dennis sold these books quickly at an honest and affordable price.
I think this is right, today Dennis's books are not only beautiful but also considered excellent additions to his Mitchell collection.
