Mitchell stuf

Post by shootrj2003 »

Found some Mitchell stuff at a yard sale today,a nos salt water spool with the case and boxed unused,2 300 spools with cases, which was good because I needed drag springs,a Mitchell 308 manual and some odds and end s ,a box of repair guides some spools of thread for binding guides to poles and some real lead split shot, larger size.I may be tempted to return there was a lot of Mitchell stuff there along with a 300 reel it was a little rough for $25 as theses pop up in good condition for $10-$15 in this area, but I may weaken my resolve when my check arrives( I am an unrepentant Mitchell junkie)and I will go back to look more, funny thing ,the only Mitchell case with a lid was the unused boxed item, all the spool cases had no lids! But I grabbed two any way they were cheap.just thought I’d share.

shootrj2003,
I haven't been to many yard sales lately, but around my area, there were always a lot of really bad condition, neglected Mitchells. Ones that had been abused and cast aside and the only people, with few exceptions, were the older guys who had used them in their younger days.
I don't ever remember seeing an excellent example at a yard sale.
Yard sales were good for finding reels that could be used for parts reels.
That all changed when the internet auctions made nicer reels available.

Regards,
Ted Lanham

Sorry it’s been a year! Most of my Mitchell’s are not factory new condition but most are mechanically top notch condition and look clean and well maintained, because they are ,they are nearly all bought from yard sales and returned to good working condition ,by me,as users ,they earn their keep!

The small crevice is where line can get caught in

I prefer the filthy, worn out, beat up 300's. I enjoy cleaning them up and bringing them back to life. I have many that look like hell but function perfectly. The more charcater they have from years of use, the better. Love 'em!

No boxes unfortunately. Maybe 2 or 3. I’ll post a video of everything I have tomorrow
