Goodmorning Schrack, Could you elaborate on the term reel wrenches?
I am new to reel repair and would like to know how you folk find the right screw drivers and wrenches to use to limit damage and scratches. I using automotive tools and I figure that there must be a better option.

Most of the reels came with a wrench that was made for the reels.
Was an option on some where you could buy it.
The 300 wrench is a 12mm socket with a screw driver thru the top.
some of the reels had some funcky looking wrench's

Baron2,
The 300 wrench screwdriver will do the job, and it fits the side plate pretty tight, but if the screws are really tight it can be tough to get them loose without damaging the screws. Early on, I got a about a 6 inch craftsman screwdriver and ground the blade down to where it fit the screws perfect. The screwdriver allowed me to put more force down on the screw when trying to loosen it. Of course, some penetrating oil before trying this is always helpful. There is a youtube video that shows what I'm talking about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yfw_5-rYKng

Nice video Ted.
I to have taken a broken screwdriver to a point (like an ice pick) for hard to get to corners while cleaning.
While there are several tools in my bag, these are 2 I rely on.

Don What is bottom wrench used on besides 300,400 series and302N?
I have one like this, plus one that is identical without small cut out.
I think I can make the 300 wrench. (Aircraft mechanics can make anything, LOL)

Schrack,
I got them both from my flea market guy, after seeing them on ebay. I think I paid $9.00 for both. They bottom one I think I have only used to remove the screws on a 300 oscillation guide, and the side plate on the 308.

I acquired 6 wrench's, believe 4 are for Penn's and two Mitchell one is like your lower photo , other is just like yours only without hex. hole near wrench.
I have several Screw drivers that are perfect for all screws on Mitchells, The face plate is a 12MM so any socket will fit, just becareful not to damage face plate.
I am going to make a special socket, just going to take a deep well 12MM and drill hole near top and put a piece of round stock thru. From the looks of the wrench using the screw driver on wrench would be a bit awkward.
I have a box of parts coming and it has another wrench in with the stuff, mostly washers and bail wires.
Got it cheap.
