Hello everyone! Just wanted to show off this workhorse that's been in my family for a while! My grandfather bought it sometime around the late 50s or early 60s I believe, then my dad used it for it a while, and now I use it from time to time. A few years ago I took it all apart, cleaned it, and greased it. Not too sure on the exact date of when it was made, but it still works great!

Your last photo has the serial number on the top "arch". Your version started circa., 1958 according to Dennis Roberts Value Guide. Missing the " A Garcia Product" sticker above the handle. Not uncommon for that to happen. Also, yours has the later version 3 prong drag. It should have the 4 prong drag. Most spools are interchangeable. Appears to be 1731***. Would fit the timeline. Be careful of the shim's placement. They help the reel run smooth and quiet. The 5/1 is a rarer reel than the later ones. Congratulations.

You're welcome. Everyone has their favorite Mitchell that they want to keep going. Fortunately, most can rebuild them for that purpose. The 1st ones and extremely rare would be difficult to impossible to get certain parts for to keep them original.
