Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me? What kind of gearing does the Mitchell 386 have? And is the reel suitable for braided line?
Any and all replies greatly appreciated.

BF60,
:text-welcomeconfetti: to the Mitchell Reel Museum.
I have never owned a 386, but here's what I can find on the gearing.

"The gears are precision cut with extra bearing surface, with roller bearings, stainless steel, rotating shaft and axle".
That was all taken from one of their ads.

I can help with you question about using braided line. I don't think that braided was used much in those days, but one of the mates may have tried it out and let us know the story.
