498 line arm

I have a 498 the line arm on mine folds back for casting but most i have seen dont was this an modification or and after mkt or were some made this way
to the Mitchell Reel Museum.I never owned any of the large Mitchell reels, except a few 302's, but based on a search of the internet, I found that the 498s had a retractable bail arm on their various models after 1992.
