I am trying to date my Mitchell 300. The serial number stamped on the outside cover is 958640 with the letter I stamped on the inside. Can anyone help me with this. I appreciate your time.

If your serial # is posted right, it should be a 1955 version and shouldn't have the "300" engraved or stamped on the reel. Folks with more knowledge about dating Mitchell reels will be along shortly to help out.
