Boxes?
I have a box for my 3rd version half bail Mitchell. I’m not sure that it’s the correct one. Can anyone describe(or post photos of) what the correct box should look like?
Many Thanks,
John

Re: Boxes?
Altposaune,
I believe that the 3rd version boxes had only "Mitchell" printed the top of the box.

Ted,
Thank you. You wouldn’t happen to have a photo of the correct box, would you?
Thanks again,
John

Ted,
I forgot that I had another question. The “Mitchell” printed on the inside box bottom is a gold color. Is that correct?
Thanks,
John

Altposaune,
There are, at least 6 or 7 boxes that 3rd versions Mitchells came in over 3v production, and I no longer have any of those reels. The majority of the box bottoms has Mitchell printed in a gold color. Wallace's book "The Mitchell Classic 300 Spinning Reel: 1939-1989" covers all the Mitchell boxes well. Maybe, some of the other mates have pictures or 3v boxes.

Re: Boxes?
Hello John, There's a lot more to documenting 3rd version boxes that just the appearance as you can see below. I would still recommend buying my book if you plan on verifying your collection of boxes and reels. FYI Ted had the correct, there are at least 7 boxes that were used on 3rd version boxes. These overlapped both the 2nd versions as well as the 4th versions. Hope this helps, Wallace

Re: Boxes?
Hello Wallace,
Thank you so much for this valuable and detailed information. Based on this information, it appears that I have a 4th version box. Not the correct box for a 3rd version reel.
I’m anxious to buy a copy of your book. I’m certain that it contains some very helpful information. With a limited budget, I’m forced to choose between books and reels. I’ll be ordering the book shortly.
Best Wishes,
John
