498 line arm

I have a 498 the line arm on mine folds back for casting but most i have seen dont was this an modification or and after mkt or were some made this way

I never owned any of the large Mitchell reels, except a few 302's, but based on a search of the internet, I found that the 498s had a retractable bail arm on their various models after 1992.
