Recently in a box of Mitchell's I purchased their was a Garcia 3000 among them.
I cleaned and lived it stuck it on a rod with 10# line. Went down to the lake to give it a shot.
To my surprise, it is one awesome reel.
Casts great and ha deals more like a 308.
As much as I hate to admit does a tad better than the 300.
Have not caught a large fish on it, but will do that in the spring.
I feel had because I have been a Mitchell user since 1956.
Purchased several to sell at up coming shows.
Mitchell please Forgive Me!!!!!!!!.

Schrack,
As I pointed out in your other post, Mitchell (of France) is long gone. Prior to Mitchell's bankruptcy, Garcia went bankrupt. The Garcia name and trade mark was sold to Abu. Abu then changed it's name to Abu-Garcia. The "Garcia 3000" reel was made in Japan for Abu-Garcia and is nothing like the Mitchell 300.
Many former Mitchell users were fooled by the Abu-Garcia advertising at first because it was made to look like the former Garcia Mitchell advertising. Attached below is a good example of the Abu-Garcia early ads. Look carefully at the bottom to see who the actual company selling the reel is.
Kind Regards,
Bill

I am very aware of Mitchell history.
The 3000 is nothing like the 300.
However it performs as well.
The internal working are much like the 308, 306.
This is the first one I have had.
I am sure they were made to copy the preformance of the 300.
In 1956 I bought my first 300 and have been using them ever since.
Never had any problems I couldn't fix.
Very early do I replace bail springs, most of my customers just have the wire mis alighned.
The point I was trying to make was the 3000 is equal to the 300.
When the Channel Cats come back in, will let you know how they preform.

The Abu-Garcia reels copying Mitchell aren't that bad of a reel. The advantage they have over Mitchell is they can be converted from left to right hand wind very easily. I don't know anyone that sells parts for them and can't give accurate comment on repair parts in case one needs to be repaired.
