Hello, recently bought a lot of 5 Mitchell Reels.
One of the 5 was a new made in China 300.
Worked fine.
Decided to try it out before selling it.
Put it on a medium Fenwick and 12# Stern and walked down to the lake.
Had a few negitve points , the worst was the bail trip, if handle was from 10 to 12 o'clock it was hard to trip, had to use excessive force. Other thing was ratio was faster than old 300.
Good point casts far better than old ones, 12# line it went far and smooth.
I only caught one small bass and it handled it ok, was only a 2# fish.
The Channel Cats are not biting so could not give a report on how well it does with 5# Cat.
Myself , still Prefer the old ones.
So decided to sell it, guess its cause it is made in china, and does not have the personality of the old ones.

The Taiwan ones are the one to avoid, one gear breaks up and takes out the rest, easily spotted on eBay no made in France on the side, Taiwan embossed on the foot, gold raised 300 on the cover plate, good for hard to get parts i.e. red gasket, the long handle, bail arm and spring, if bought cheap.
