304 with 300 like spool

Post by Schrack »

Has any one ever seen a 304 with a spool like on a 300?
Why do I asked? Cause I just bought one.
Have a nice Rod picked out for it.
Looks like my new Trout Rod for Lick Run!

Description sounds like a 314. Missed out on one of these a couple of years ago.

Found 2 bought the other.
On case both have 304 mitchell.
Am excited about these, have not seen this type before.
Would imagine only difference will be the shaft that spool rides on.
Wonder if any other spools are compatible to this model?
Hopefully should arrive by Wed. :banana-dreads:

Now I have the314 bug bought several more one is brand new used slightly.
Put some line on it and try it in the morning.
So far only difference is the shaft looks like they would make a 304 a 314.
Another simple Reel.

Well went 314 nuts, bought a few more, some have 304.
Only difference is the spool and shaft.
Actually shaft is same size, but different spool mounting swapped shaft on 304 and it is now a 314.
Other slight difference is the handle, 314 has one similar to 300 only slightly bent.
Man these things are so cool.
Bought a lot of mixed 304 and 314 and am of them are now fully functional.
2 of them have rough finish, guess these were ones the dude fished with.
Other 2 are what I call Sunday go to Meeting reels , which are in almost new condition.
I do wonder why Mitchell made the one part out of nylon instead of metal.(part that main drive moves spool in and out)..
Something new to play with.
