Wallace,
I will start spreading the word we are back. How long before we can post on the various boards? Is there any way to connect between the revamped MRM (ourboard) and this site?
Kind Regards,
Bill

I've opened up all the boards for posts but I need help moderating them. I have so much to do, I'll do the best I can. Ourboard is a hacked old copy of my site, unauthorized with copyright infringements!
I am working to put everything, new and updated, on this new site.
Best Regards, Wallace

Re: Welcome to Mitchell Mates!
So glad to see the site up & running again.... A Big Thanks to Wallace and Mike for putting this back together...
It's GREAT to see it back & running even it it's infant stages... I remember from an email that Wallace had sent to me awhile back that you weren't to sure for a while... but I kept checking... Here it is!!!
Although I was never a super active posting member on the prior forum, I was a diehard reader of it. The amount of knowledge I gain was incredible.
Looking forward to watching the site grow again..
Again Thanks to Wallace & Mike (& all) involved.

Re: Welcome to Mitchell Mates!
I rejoined MRM in it's new incarnation at the end of September. Just like to say Wallace that I'm glad you're continuing with the site after all the problems caused by the original being hacked. I wasn't that active a member - just a couple of posts - but I do miss the schematics and reel photos. I assume you have these and will be adding them back, but would it be useful for me to send copies of leaflets from my original Mitchell 300s purchased as new? These are 1977 and 1996 (dated 1990) and both show the schematic for each version and the spool capacities. The 300 I bought in 1996 was of course a Taiwan model, but on comparing the schematic with other 300s I have since acquired, the parts all seem to be right. The later leaflet also shows schematics and capacities of the 306, 308/309 and 350 of the 1990 models if that would be useful.

Thank you for your encouraging words! I have the schematics you’re talking about but we specialize in Mitchell Reels that were made in France. Take care and welcome back. Sincerely, Wallace

Wonder if anyone can assist e. Just acquired several Mitchell Reels, in their original box's with instructions, but I would really like to know when they were made. here are some of the serial numbers. I also have of similar age a Garcia Mitchell 386. can anyone tell me their ages. many thanks Phil in New Zealand.

Head Gear Replacement 440A
HI, I have restored several thousand reels and today tried and learnt something new. I recently purchase a 440A as spares repair which looked fairly unused, after many hours trying different things it still sounded like a cement mixer no matter what I did, reluctantly I decided it was the worn and damaged gear on the head and reluctantly decided it was for the bin, then I remembered the box of unknown parts i had that contained several head gear replacement parts I found one that was right, but had always wondered how you replace the gear, nothing too lose so I used a G clamp and two chrome socket set sockets that put the pressure on the gear and bearing holder to be removed, then applied the G clamp and applied some pressure it moved and soon come out, I reversed the process and fitted the new gear and put the reel back together, which run as it should, I do not collect Mitchell reels but buy many Mitchell wrecks and return them back to use, that`s my hobby, I am really pleased to add this one to a long list of old Mitchell that people still want to use today. Allan
Re: Welcome to Mitchell Mates!
Did you happen to capture any photos of the process? While I have an idea in my head on what you did, it would be interesting to see and add confirmation of my thought visual.

Re: Welcome to Mitchell Mates!
Hi Sorry no photo`s, was pretty certain it was the end for the head, so went ahead as there was nothing to lose, thought after a few pictures would have helped. Allan
