By the way the 2 reels pictured are the exact reels pictured in DR,s book I purchased from his personal collection. Cheers

No printing on spool or rotor by the looks but my point was it looks like a streaky version of the carbon weave affect paint finish .

Hello Simone most unusual all I can presume it's a carbon paint effect that went slightly wrong and found it's way out of the factory . Regards.

Thanks fellas not something I would normally collect but given thier rarity especially the early run in the timber box well had to have it . Low number 015 . No paperwork but has correct spare spool / container. Cheers

Kim most of the aftermarket alloy casting spools I have seen on all different makes of spinning reels including Mitchell where made by Bill Burke which the Skish has one of his . Cheers.

Super cool cutaways fellas I tried to keep the photo detail on my 440 as minimal as possible for reasons that have been spoken about before. I see a few cutaways on a ebay site called CV fishing or something similar and a lot of other Mitchell's for sale very many actually. Cheers.

Well it was unfortunately my misfortune to purchase a 1st version 498 Pro mib for someone who did not have the slightest clue on how to pack a reel for safe international travel. Pictures tell the story . I usually am excited to open a fresh package with a nice Mitchell inside not on this occasion. ...

Now there is a story I can't wait to be continued.

Wow are these hard to find these days managed to track one down in Canada signed 1st edition.
Having the exact reels featured in the book I had to track down a copy , job done very happy .

Hi I was looking at production numbers on this sites home page noticed the 397 only produced between 1969 - 1970 at only 1929 reels made very low so the search began funny enough found one here in OZ . Pulled her down cleaned her up and it spins like a top and in pretty good condition for 50 . I not...

Here we have a beautiful 906 all bar the tiniest foot rubs it is mint.
Short production run on these if I remember correctly.

Well it's been Christmas in September for me after the postman yesterday.
I didn't have a 300 so I thought I better get one a bit special.
1957 model I believe in great condition and how cool does the Bill Burke custom spool look ?

Managed to secure some nice Mitchell's here is the 1st one a 306x with the extras .
The reel , spare spool and container are in Unbelievable condition for 60 odd years old .
Dare I say mint the red top box! Did its job very well.
