Re: 324 Reverse Dog Springs!
Thanks for info. The schematic is an early reel, it has the screw holding the plate which can be tightened and shimed. New ones plate is pressed on lever. What occurs is plate and lever wear and spring will not stay in grooves. Before I take these with red lever I want to be sure they are tight and ...

324 Reverse Dog Springs!
My latest thing has been 324, great medium reel. Very impressed with it. However one problem. On later models with the red reverse lever, the handle becomes loose and pops the spring. The design is wierd, it has two plates and two small springs. My question is how can you shim the handle to take up ...

Hello, recently bought a lot of 5 Mitchell Reels. One of the 5 was a new made in China 300. Worked fine. Decided to try it out before selling it. Put it on a medium Fenwick and 12# Stern and walked down to the lake. Had a few negitve points , the worst was the bail trip, if handle was from 10 to 12 ...

Re: New kind of 304
Sounds like wrong drive gear, thaat would make it backwards, Trying to figure out the 304, the body of a 304 would be impossible to fit a 300. If you look at a 304 the body is round and small. On a 300 bail opens to right and 301 to left so if it opens to right That would rule out head and probably ...

Guess 6# is most efficient

Roger on bent bail wire.
So many get dropped, or bent by a gremlin.
Most I ran into just play with the bail wire.
Kinda funny so many reels get bent bail wires.
so simple but people change springs for nothing.
Just remove bottom screw and bails work great, then bend wire where it should be.

One 300 is going on 2 years, and still runs like a clock, not gumbed up just gray film.
When cleaned that comes off.
Do not like grease, most of it breaks down and gums up.
Am sure something better is out there.

My opinion the 53 thru 56 Reels are the best.
