Another thought... Look to balance the line with the pole. I would not want to have a line that over-stresses to pole while casting or fighting a fish. My true ultralight poles recommend 2-6 lb line whereas my light action recommends 4-8 lb line. Each rod maker has slightly different recommendations...

Purchased on eBay for real cheap because the seller said the spool would not oscillate. 5 minutes with a screwdriver and the schematic showed me that it was just a loose screw. Another one that I will clean up, re lube, and put it back to work.

I just finished doing the same thing to a Mitchell 900 that I just got off of eBay. I was told that the 900 had a problematic bail closing system but it turned out to be some old grease and a slightly bent bail wire. So now I have a nice 900 that I bought really cheaply to add to the collection.
