Re: 486 Drag part
There does appear that there are a few sources for this part. However, I had seen somewhere that these "Fereodo drag plates" never wear out but can crack. Have not found a carbon fiber or other substitute for this piece.

486 Drag part
I am reconditioning a Mitchell 486 (new to me). The drag uses a part; the "Ferodo drag plate", PN 81 482 which appears to be NLA. Is there a substitute for this part?

Am I Crazy
I now have 4 Mitchell 302's, a 303 and 486. All have been cleaned, lubed and fully reconditioned, rigged and ready to go. My son wanted the left hand model. I guess it's what senior citizens do with plenty of time on their hands. Waiting for the Cobia to come in. Crazy, but I fell in love with Mitch...

Re: Age of 302 reel?
It appears from the pre1969 parts diagram for the 302 uses centering ring PN 81 355 known as a Chrome centering ring or Shaft bearing pinion cap. I appears that post 1969 the reel uses a centering bushing made of black plastic (same part number ) that looks like a water deflector shield. My reel has...

Age of 302 reel?
I recently acquired a 302 reel. The serial number on the foot is 0940368. This forum indicates that 302's (full bail) were built between 1953 and 1977. My serial number put his reel in the 1955 timeframe however, it conforms to the post 1969 parts diagram. If the "0" (zero) was an "O&...

Re: 303 reel part?
Don,
I don't know where your PM went but I don't seem to have it.
I think you can see the subject piece in the video outboard of the ball bearing but neither the piece or the bearing are removed and the orientation of the piece really cannot be determined.

Re: 303 reel part?
Thanks, its a nice video but does not show the part of concern (chrome rotor bushing or also known as the shaft bearing pinion cap). Still don't know the proper position to install this piece.

303 reel part?
I had been cleaning and lubing my 303 and I did not notice a part that fell off until reassembly. The piece is the shaft bearing pinion cap or Chrome rotor bushing . It is round ring with 2 notches. How is it installed; notches facing the bearing or notches facing away from the bearing? Do the beari...
