Here's a six-pack of Garcia Mitchell 300 reels which is hardly ever found or even seen. This was from our friend & Mitchell Mate Doug DeSimone, one of two surviving sons of Louis DeSimone. Louis was President of Impecco, LTD, the exclusive import company for Mitchell, France to Garcia here in The States. This six-pack was never given to Garcia for distribution and ended up as part of Louis' collection thus inherited by Doug.
In 2007 we opened up the case for the first time out of curiosity. They were as thought, the very last version of the classic Mitchell 300 made in 1977 during the release of the new GM 300A Red Band starting in the same year. This was also the first time this 300-style box was used with interchangeable model inserts. The case and provenance alone is of significant historical value but also; this last version in the 300 series is more rare than most believe.
The clear "box"wrap was carefully removed to inspect each reel and can easily be reattached. The "open" paperwork shown is not from one of these reels but are exactly the same. Mitchell sealed the paperwork in cellophane except for the owner's manual. None of the sealed paperwork in these has been opened. Five have matching serial number G153906; one with G152906 that makes this box the first evidence of duplicated serial numbers on reels sold to the public which continued on till 1988.
