Mitchell 411 DL – No Records This Model Was Ever Made

Mitchell Presentation Reels were made as far back as the late fifties called DeLuxe or DL for short. The first issued was the "test" version 300DL made in the late fifties. In the very early sixties, the 300DL was produced and advertised for the public. The 301DL came out in the later sixties along with the 408DL followed close by the 410DL.

Except for the test version 300DL; all DeLuxe reels came in wood boxes with silver engraving plates on the top. The reels have a gold plated engraving plate on the reel’s housing and other gold plated parts as you can see.

The two shown here are very early versions of the 410DL with serial numbers 8976407 and 8976422 which dates these reels in the later sixties. Like the 408DL; the 410DL came in two slightly different versions. The first version has a friction line guide and the second version has a roller line guide. All 410, 411 and 410DL reels are painted a dark Midnight Blue.

With limited information and elusive advertising for the 410DL; these are considered more valued than the others excluding the 408DL. They are also the first ones issued in the dark varnished oak wood box. All others to date had been teakwood.
