Hi Mates,

I recently purchased an 840 that needed some cleaning yet functions flawlessly. Paint wise not real pretty. My question is it came with a cover gasket installed that would be on the A-series reels. Best I can read the serial # would begin with a G which tells me it should not have the gasket. The reel functions equally with and without the gasket, hence my confusion. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

:sSig_thankyou:

Wayne

I've worked on 840 reels with and without the gasket...from memory you can't leave the gasket out as that reel has wider gears and they hit something inside....can't quite remeber what.

If you think the reel would beneifit from the paintwork re-touching, try mixing a little gold paint with gloss black...you should be able to get close.

Thanks Bailarm,
I will leave it on the reel. For now I will keep using my 440. :sCh_fisherman:
