The following pictures are of a Mitchell 300 Fake called the Siegfried.
I actually bought this reel when I was a kid at a discount store in Newburgh , New York probably around 1959 or 1960. It says Japan on the mounting bar and Siegfried on the side. The action and gearing is terrible compared to the Mitchell 300 but it still works. Does anyone have any more information. Thanks

An entire subforum to explore!!

Looks like a "wind-up toy" version.

Found the box for this reel while cleaning out the attic.

I've always suspected that one company made this specific Japanese copy type and other companies had them made with their own logo on them.

That look-a-like is a great find. They are very hard to find with the original box, this is even the first time I have ever seen a Siegfried with it's box.
Thanks for showing !
Jean-Paul

Hi Jean -Paul. This was not a great find because I bought this when I was a kid. I am 67 now and I probably bought this when I was about 13 years old. I actually remember buying it at a discount department store called Big Scotts for only a few dollars. The price was on the box but I could not read it any more. Its been in my cabinet of fishing equipment for over 50 years. Luckily I still had the box in the attic.
Thanks, Bill
