Today at the flea market I found a Garcia Striker rod 6'6" #7212 with a Mitchell 300 reel for $20. Nothing special about the rod. Think I can use this rod or Bay / Inlet flounder fishing? And what year do you think it is?
I also found a Garcia Conolon1451 5' medium heavy action rod, for $5. This one is in a little better shape, wondering what year this might be from. Any information would be appreciated.

May your lines always be tight, Don

Hey Don,

Striker 7212 is a 1981 walleye rod (see catalog page below). 1981 is as recent as my "catalog library" goes. Garcia also sold a "Sniper Striper" - kind of a tongue twister - that year.

About the 1451, what's its color, handle type, logo - any stars? If you post without photo, then some characteristics would help narrow the search. Even then, a model #'s characteristics might change over the years.

John

John,
The color is a cherry brown, handle spinning cork, 5' 1 piece, medium heavy action.

Hey Don,

I could not find your Garcia Conolon 1451 in any of my Garcia Annuals/Catalogs.

In the 1970s, Garcia did have brown rods badged with the red-wedge Garcia logo and Conolon name as your photo shows, however, those rods have 4-digit numbers starting with "2" or "B".

I might wildly speculate (the second time for me lately) that this is a rod not cataloged by Garcia and made for a retail chain(s) and/or discount sale. There appears to a precedent for this with the Garcia Conolon Live Fiber series [Garcia Conolon Live Fiber – help needed].

John
