Looking for info on this rod i just mounted a 624 mitchell reel to. What does the letters before and after the number stand for? Plan on using for pier and boat this season.

Greetings Captphil,
Welcome to the Mitchell Reel Museum.
Unfortunately, there is a lot more information found about reels here than on Garcia rods. You may have stumped the mates.

Regards,
Ted Lanham

Hello Captphil,

Welcome to the Museum and great question right off the bat. I don't know of anyone here in the Museum who has broken the code for Conolon/Mitchell/Garcia rods. I can provide you with some information about your rod however. This is from the 1974 Garcia Fishing Tackle Catalog which is when the Skipper's Special rods were first advertised.

Looks like a very nice rod and especially with a Mitchell 624. Good luck and hope this helps.

Regards,
Chris
