If there are any Conolon rod collectors out there that can give me their opinion on whether or not they think a good application of urethane rod varnish would detract from the value of any vintage rod, I would like to here from you. I fish with all my rods and know that some need varnish to protect the threads. The rods look much nicer with the varnish but someday I'm going to have to pass my rods on to younger collectors and just want to know what condition of rods is most desireable to serious collectors. I thank you for any opinions.

Hi Cliff,

From a collector standpoint it will effect the value of the rod. I would certainly would make sure you tell the new owner it was done. Unless you have a holy grail rod, I would just fish and enjoy. If you need to protect the wrapping, save the rod. Cheers!

Regards, Scott
