I recently dug up my dad's old fly fishing gear and wanna take it to the streams to catch some brown's on a dry fly.....I know a few things bout fly fishing but this rod and reel have no markings I'm familiar with......the rod...garcia conolon, 2537C 8 and 1/2 foot dry fly action, fast taper with GAAF-9 and the reel is a South Bend..oren-o-matic balanced reel no.1140 really my questions are what weight line can be used for this set up...I will be using this on small streams no bigger than sidewalks and streets in the drift less region of south west wisconsin would this set up even be worth using?

Hello Trout magnet,

1st you could always experiment with a couple different types of line to see what works best.
You might pose this question to the ORCA (Old Reels Collectors Association). Lots of great knowledgable fishing guru's whom might have had a simular issue. Good Luck! Welcome to the group, we hope you will come back and share your experiences as a fly rod person.

Regards, Scott
