I acquired a Mitchell 308 and was wondering how old it is.
On the back of the spool housing it says "Made in France" followed by the number 5. it also says "US patent 2726052
On the foot I found the # 464896

Hey Jeff, without a photo or knowing other attributes, it is from 1974, or so...with photos we would know for sure.

Thank you for the quick response! I was also wondering if the 308 had the same quick release button for removing the spool!
the one I have does not.

Jeff, yes, all 308s have the quick spool release. Sometimes the metal button at the top of the spool becomes frozen. Liberal amounts of WD40 will usually free them up...
