I currently still have a Mitchell 301DL that I may want to sell. Does anyone have any idea what it may be worth??? It is in Pristine condition in original Oak Box with cardboard box.
Thanks

Mitch

Hello Mitch,

The Garcia Mitchell 301DL is quite hard to find but most Mitchell collectors are hesitant to attach a value to any Mitchell reel. Obviously condition and rarity are primary considerations but I always tell anyone who asks. "It depends on what the next person is willing to pay". It's not uncommon to see $30.00 reels sell for $150.00 and on the other hand see $300.00 dollar reels sell for $100.00 - it's totally subjective.

Another example is if I see a pristine Mitchell reel with a numbers matching box that I don't have in my collection - I want it! I'm willing to pay much more than that Mitchell reel is actually worth to be able to display it in my collection - again, totally subjective.

I know what I would pay for your reel - but another collector may say that my figure is unrealistically low and another may say that it's rediculously high. ::)

I realize that I didn't answer your question but I hope to give you and understanding of how the Mitchell "market" works. This is my opinion only but I think most of the Mates will agree with me - I would be interested, as always in differing opinions.

Regards,
Chris

+2. The Mitchell books that have values in them are a general idea of current worth. Depending on reel the prices fluctuate all the time. I know Mitchell prices have dropped in the last several years compared to before. They are guidelines only. The truly rare reels will always hold it's value also.

What style anti-reverse does it have and drag nut design on spool???
