HELP!!! I RECENTLY CAME ACROSS A ROD FOR MY MITCHELL 510, HOWEVER THE REEL SEAT WAS PLASTIC AND NOT METAL. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS WAS SOME TYPE OF JAPANESE KNOCKOFF... OR IS IT REALLY A GARCIA ROD. ANY HELP OR INSIGHT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED; THE ROD IS STILL AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. :alien THANKS RON

Hi Ron,

I have never seen a Garcia rod for the 500 series Mitchell reels with anything but a brass reel seat. Scott is the guy who would know without question and he should be around the site before too long.

Regards,
Chris

Hi Ron,

Could you post a few photo's for the group to see. Sound like a knock off, but who knows. I have never seen a rod that has other than brass. If it is other than a Conolon then someone or company has gotten creative. There was a Fenwick rod about 3 years ago on EBAY that received a 500 series reel. I do not know whether it was real or some rod buider being creative. I will look for the photo's. Cheers!

Regards, Scott

Actually, none of the conolon rods have brass reel seats. They are all anodized aluminum. They just have a brass color.
