Hello Mates,

I've been giving some thought to Mitchell ads. I own approximately 300+ various Mitchell/Garcia/Conolon ads, which I'll (slowly) start adding. If anyone is interested in joining this on-going project, let's standardize things at the beginning. With the kind indulgence of Wallace, here are my thoughts:

1) We open a new thread for each year in which Mitchell/Garcia/Conolon advertised. We can then post ads to each appropriate thread (1952, 1960, etc.).

2) When we post these ads, we list the following information:

Magazine/Journal Where Ad Originated (e.g. Outdoor Life)
Date of Magazine/Journal (e.g. July 1961)
Page Number (e.g. Page 190)
Size of Original Ad (e.g. 1/4 Page, 1/2 Page, Full Page)
Brief description of what we're looking at.

3) We scan at 300 DPI but post at 72 DPI. This will save bandwidth, but I would also love to get the ads in 300 DPI or higher as I would very much like to edit a book of Mitchell/Garcia/Conolon advertising by year based on this project.

4) If you are so inclined, and would like to work on the project, please email the high res scans to

5) If you find an ad already scanned but appearing in a different journal, please post the relevant information from Point #2 above, so we can know the extent of their advertising. You will not need to scan the ad.

6) If anyone wants to help oversee this project, I'll share the password to the email account with them.

So, anyone up for a long-term Mitchell project???

Dr. Todd,

Due to the difficulties in most people being able to scan these images (including me) and/or their unwillingness to post these here, I make the following recommendations:

Option 1 would be to email the high res scans to you at for your study.

Option 2 would be to mail them to you which I prefer and maybe others as well at the address below:

The Whitefish Press
Dr. Todd E.A. Larson
4240 Minmor Drive
Cincinnati, OH 45217

You will be receiving a couple large boxes of old magazines from me with and without Mitchell advertisements for your other studies. These are gifts and not to be returned.

I hope this will help!

Hello Dr. Todd,

Are you collecting Abu (Great Britain) ltd. and Garcia-Tackle Ltd. advertisements? I will start the ball rolling if you wish.

Garcia Tackle Ltd Sept. 1972 Trout and Salmon Vol. 18 No. 207 Price 20P

Garcia-Tackle September 1973 Trout and salmon Vol. 19 No. 219 Price 20P

Best regards, Jim
