the first two pictures I posted are brand new in the box dealer display. I cannot even get the band off the outside to peek inside. The first picture here will be what is in that box but that I purchased separately. the second picture here give the amount of line per diameter on to that particular spool.

Hey Kim,

Great stuff! :clap (I see the band is in a notched side of the box, making it impossible to slide off.)

But now you've gone ahead and done it - adding significant Platyl content to a Bonnyl thread! We may need to ask Ted to spin this off in a separate thread :lol as I am now also going to include some Platyl content below.

First, US (Platyl) and German (Platil) trademarks.

A couple ad's from The Fisherman monthly magazine's 1954 & 1955 annual Handbooks. And, a 1968 Garcia Annual page to show "newer" packaging.

Hi Mates,

John, great research on Platyl line. Here's my 1953-55 spool of Garcia Platyl line as advertised in the 1953 and 54 Garcia Fishing Tackle Catalog.

I've got to admit, it's still "soft and supple" even after all these years....I could probably spool it up and use it today - on a Mitchell CAP reel naturally :sHa_yes:

Regards,
Chris
