Hello Mates,

This is the first historical record I know of that still exists. It comes from a French 300 series 4th version owner's manual circa early 1950s.

Pretty Cool Image

Maybe one of our French speaking mates would be so kind to interpret this to English for us.
I did through an electronic service but they are not very reliable.

Best Regards,
Wallace

He was born in the favored country of the trout, the land of torrents and lakes : the Haute Savoie ¬.
It explains the way that it is out of the creative imagination of fishermen, those engaged in this fishery, the most delicate and most subtle of all
Yet was it that their ingenious ideas were understood and completed. He found that the industry of precision engineering, installed in the same country, was also a country of technicians and, fishermen and technicians working together in the same work, sharing their wisdom, imagination and their competence, have made the Reel MITCHELL.
They did so well that the whole world saw it.
French fishermen were naturally the first to know and experience this little marvel, but the name of Reel MITCHELL soon crossed our borders. It is claimed on all world, the countries of Europe and the British Isles, Asia, Africa, America, where in the state the most industrialized in the world, Reel MITCHELL pursuing a prestigious career. It is known on the other side of the world, used in New Zealand and Samoa Isles.
The favor eagerness of buyers do not permit long at the factory to serve all request. Manufacturing programs were widespread, their importance allowed to improve the reel price and to bring it to a level surprising for this magnificent device the perfection of which explains and legitimizes the exceptional success.
That is, in short, the wonderful story of Moulinet MITCHELL that shows what can be the experience, ingenuity, technology, and taste combined harmoniously

Hello Mitchell History Mates,

My thoughts are more on what's not said than what is. It talks of Europe in general with no specific countries we know were leaders in the distribution of Mitchell such as Germany, The Netherlands and possibly Belgium and even Italy. It's specific on America but vague on the continents of Asia and Africa assuming they mean Japan and South Africa? On the British Isles, are they talking about just Great Britain or were others involved at the time such as Scotland and Ireland? It specifies New Zealand but also Samoa, a small chain of islands in the Pacific under the control of New Zealand at the time. What happened to Australia's mention? Does this imply Australia's distributor was New Zealand?

All in all it's a great bit of Mitchell history Image

Best Regards,
Wallace
