Unless I'm crazy...and I am better on the technical side as opposed to detail dating:

Version 5 housing cover plate, with Garcia sticker; housing has Version 6 serial number of 2431681 dating the housing to 1959. Pic shows that cover and housing join is just a bit off.

Only other explanation is that the current estimated V4/V5 demarcation serial number is off by over 500,000 reels if I did the math right.

Just curious. Does that handle belong on that reel with sticker on side plate???

Kim, NO. The stickered reels are from the 1955 - 1958 era and the knurled handle (shaft) didn't come out until the 6th Version, about the time the plastic clamshell boxes were used, about 1966. None of my stickered reels have that shaft (handle). Good catch!
