Hi Mates,

Am I the only one that has noticed several recent eBay listings of "1st Version" (since removed) and "2nd Version" Mitchells that are clearly "Home Made" out of France and England? Both reels look nice in a cursory look - enough to get your heart beat going but then when you really look at them, things don't match. While both reels did have parts that were 1st and 2nd version, the bodies were clearly 6th version - One had the "Made in France" ground off and another seller even listed and photographed the ser #.... dating to 1971 :lol. Mid range entering bids on these high-end collectors reels also gets my attention :sCo_uhm: . I've noticed a more than usual "Franken Reel" activity lately and some of the reels are quite well done. I'm not convicting any of these sellers - they may not know; having bought it at a yard / estate sale. But I think extra scrutiny and attention is advised. Buyers beware. Only my $0.02 cents.

Hi Chris , I happened to see at least one that was so obvious that it was almost impossible to miss.It was a third version with the chevron A/R lever billed as a second version.Like you I don't know if it's lack of knowledge or something else.Well as they say " caveat emptor ",tite lines John.
