Hi Mates,

I would like to present a second version Mitchell tournament casting Franken-Reel. I've had this reel for a couple of years which I received from a fellow collector and a very good friend. You can also see a photo and comment of this reel in the Collectors Gallery/Tournament Reels here in the Museum.

I don't know who made this reel but they were an artist - should have worked for the Mitchell factory in France! The body is a right handed 2nd version Mitchell. The rotor is a left handed 3rd version Mitchell. All of the internal parts are 2nd version Mitchell. It has an extra gear (hence the hump below the upper faceplate screw) to allow the left hand rotor to spin correctly.

This reel spins and operates as smoothly as any original 2nd version Mitchell I have ever had the pleasure to play with.....pretty amazing :eek All of the parts on this reel are original Mitchell (obviously not the faceplate) and period correct - including the extra gear. Although this reel has been around for a while, and even though a Franken-reel, a very nice piece and special addition to my collection. Just thought I'd share with the Group :tup

Regards,
Chris
