Hello rng1966 ( PUM 489 ) I could not find a new bail spring at the time for the 489 so I thought why dont I make a manual line pick up version no need for a bail spring then and she got a skirted spool . Old 498 with a broken foot stem was the donor for parts and the end result works a treat . A few internal changes , no shimming required , very nice line lay and going strong 12 years later .
Cheers Fishabout.

I guess this is why I stick to 300's and 302's. I don't know much about 489 PUMS! Randy
