This reel was purchased in England at a public auction house by no other than Mike Read. Mike's Mitchell collection is among the very best in the world, definitely the absolute best of the best reels and artifacts ever made by Mitchell by FAR! He also owns some of the worse of the worse Franken-Reels but Mike's cool with that even though he's spent over $10,000 in fake reels. Mike even bought a "known" Mitchell fake just because he owned the one-of-a-kind original!

The one shown below was reported to be a Mitchell "prototype" 2030 series for Russian distribution:

I've been to Russia a few times and maintain good friendships there. When they looked at the pictures above, they asked me what it said! Understand they don't even spell Coca-Cola the same, that can't, they have their own alphabet! If it was for Russian distribution; Mitchell 2030 would be ??????? 2030 and Made in France would have been ????????? ?? ???????! (The Russian letters may not show up on your computer)

Now you might say "it's a prototype never distributed" so that justifies the English alphabet. Perhaps but look at the reel and someone tell everyone exactly what this reel really is. You'll be surprised!

Before you ask; yes Mitchell did make a few reels for Russia with Russian text!

Cheers, Wallace

It looks like an Olympic to me Wallace but the foot is different to others that I have seen.
