I have my fathers Mitchell/Garcia 9600 that he bought in 1967. It is still one of my favorite reels to use. The handle broke on it an looking to replace it. Anyone know where I can get a replacement or has one for sale

Greetings Jim 56,
Welcome to the Mitchell Reel Museum.
I'm not familiar with the Garcia 9600 since, I believe, that it was produced after Garcia went bankrupt in the late 70s, but you may be able to check with a seller on eBay with the handle of "jeffccbc". he carries a lot of fishing reel parts, and currently has a 9600 bail for sale there, now. He may able to fix you up. :sBo_bounce2:

Regards,
Ted Lanham

The 9600 would be a Garcia Reel with no Mitchell on it. If you look at the opposite end or side of the Reel there should be a threaded plug or cap that screws in the side. This makes the real right or left handed depending on who's going to fish it. The 9600 would be equivalent to a 3 0 6. The 9000 is equivalent to the 300 end the 9800 is equivalent to a 308. Hope this helps, dated somewheres 1979 to 1980.
Kim

Thank you for the replies... I will see what I can do. I do know the reel is from 1967. Thank you again!
