Hi all,
I'm a complete newbie on here and have an interest in fishing with a small collection of Mitchells including 300s,308s,306s,386 and more recently a 402.What i'd like to find for the 402 is a manual pick up.Is there anyone on here who has one that they would consider selling?

Hi Jeff & Welcome to Mitchell Mates...

I have a used mounting bracket (the hard part to find) with NOS other parts required for the conversion. I'm not at home for a few more days but will be happy to look for it when I return.

What country do you live in?

Regards, Wallace

Hi Wallace,
Thanks for the reply and i'd really appreciate the search for parts.I live on the other side of the 'pond' so to speak,in the U.K.I have had a quick glance at ebay USA and have found someone selling 302/402 manual pick up kits for about thirty bucks....which converts to about twenty quid ...not that cheap! .Not too worried about originality etc, just want to get my 402 usable for some surf fishing and i think the manual pick up with it's bigger roller would be a useful upgrade to the reel.I have a more modern 386 which ,as you probably know, was a more common sea reel over here but,in my opinion, my (much older)402 seems to be a much better reel. The drag mechanism is far more advanced and actually seems to work as opposed to just being an on off swith as on the 386,also although i've not had a chance to load the reel with line,i suspect that the planamatic gearing will give a much better line lay as it does on my 306s

Hi Guys, I just got back home last night...

The one Martin has appears to be an original, not an aftermarket being sold on eBay. Since he's in the same country, you should work out a deal with him. Thanks Martin, that was nice of you. These are getting very hard to find!

Best Regards, Wallace

I do not know the size difference, but if it would fit, I have a new mount part #  81 593 and this is for the  306/406 reel

Many thanks Syd but this is a different part and would not fit on the 303/402- i do now have a PUM kit ,albeit a plain bushing copy, coming over from your side of the Atlantic.
