Just picked up a Mitchell fly reel in beautiful condition. It doesn't function correctly. It seems like it is missing a shim maybe. Any experts out there, I've actually never seen one before.

Although I have never seen a Mitchell 710, I am a Fly Fisherman and have take apart many a fly reel in my day. Could you please post some photo's of your reel and describe in detail exactly what seem to be the problem. No guarantees but will do my best to try and help you out.
Kind Regards,
