Hello Laurent,

Welcome to the Group :sSig_welcome4:

Below is one of my 324s with the anti-reverse lever spring installed.

Attachment:
324 Anti-Reverse.jpg

I have found that the easiest method for installing this spring is with needle nose pliers (shown in photo). By holding the spring bar vertical with your pliers (in the middle of the spring bar), place the bottom of the spring bar directly behind the small "hump" in the reel body and then holding the top of the spring bar with your finger, force the spring bar slightly forward with the pliers to form a slight bow and guide the top of the spring bar into the notch of the anti-reverse lever with your finger. This takes a little practice but with a few tries you will get it in properly. Hope this helps and if you have any other questions, please let us know - we're all happy to help :tup

Regards,
Chris

I bought this reel € 3 ($ 3) on a Sunday flea market. He was with his box and documentation. A good cleaning and it can be used again.

Hello Laurent,

You said your reel dates 1984.
I think your reel is earlier maybe 1970 .
Maybe Christian or Chris can shine a light on this .

regards, Dries

Hello Laurent,

I agree with Dries in the dating of your 324. I believe thet the "O" in your serial number is actually a "0 - zero". It is believed that the "O" was only used on a few reels in 1984 and then it shifted to a "P". I have a NIB 324 and while the serial numbers have not been well documented to dates of manufacture, the box was the strongest indicator of the time period. My Garcia Mitchell 324 is serial# 0734712 and as Dries said, I place it around 1969-1971....not an exact year. The 324 was only made up to 1983 but that would have been with a black "window" one piece box. Hope this helps.

Regards,
Chris

Thank you to you for the information. Sometimes it is not easy to date a reel
