I have a Mitchell 300A that the bail was not returning to the fully closed position. I removed the bail and cleaned and lubed the pivot points of the bail. Now I can't get the bail spring back in place correctly. I found a video on the internet that shows how to do this for a model 300, but it starts with placing one end of the spring in a hole in the bail. My 300A does not have a hole for the spring to go in to.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 300A came with 2 styles of bail assemblies. See the schematcs page at http://mitchellreelmuseum.com/index.php/category/346 and that should help.
