WHEN I ENGAGE MY ANTI REVERSE ON MY 840 REEL IT DISENGAGES WHEN REELING I PURCHASED AND INSTALLED THE NEW ANTI REVERSE PARTS ON MY 840 MITCHELL MATCH REEL,AND I STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. CLEARLY I MESSED UP THE INSTALL. ANY SUGGESTIONS OR SHOULD I JUST TAKE IT TO A [REAL] REEL TECHNICIAN :sAng_banghead2: THANKS RON

That A/R set up is robust...but multi-part and complicated.

The same design is used on the 900 reels...here is a larger schematic than offered in our section:

I'll try to find a picture of the parts put together properly...if everything is put together properly, check that the lever screw is tight.

If tight, then something probably is worn out/broken.

Ah-Ha!!

I knew I had a pic stashed...note the orientation of the pawl regarding the long and short arms.
