I am having a hard time replacing my 308's bail spring, and I need help with procedure so I don't keep bending the new ones I try to install. Any tips and advice would be appreciated.

Greetings Big Dan,
Welcome to the forum.
Those springs can be difficult, sometimes. Here's a link to a string that concerns the subject of there being two different springs for the 308 reels. viewtopic.php?f=75&t=588&p=4263&hilit=308+Bail+spring&sid=902104e247971d24c05510d94140587b#p4263
Make sure you have the correct spring for your reel.

Regards,
Ted Lanham

Ted,
Thanks for the reply and the link to the thread. Both my 308's are original 4 coil models, so I know I'm using the correct spring.

Big Dan

Big Dan,
One of he mates, Smead, is very apt at describing the details of these kinds of operations. Here's his description of how to replace a 308 bail spring.
