An almost mystical scene, with fairy dust rising from Trillium Lake, the sun rising behind Mt. Hood...and the fish were rising too...

Yesterday was cold, 37 degrees at the 5:30 AM sunrise...it's a drive-in lake, located 4000' in elevation, situated at the base of Mt. Hood in the northern Oregon Pacific cascade mountain range...a small, cold lake surrounded by pristine old growth forest...Bald Eagles circled and freshwater otters visited me most of the day...I was the first on the water...The mountain loomed over me all day...it's twice as large in real life...

Again, I used all vintage gear...An early seventies fenwick fly rod, 1960 FRONCE 308 and a fifties self-painted wooden Flatfish...can't say how many strikes I got (the hard strike is the best part), but I i'm sure I had twenty-five to the boat and hooks ups vs strikes is always about a 3:1 ratio on this Flatfish...largest were feisty 14" Rainbows...many in th 12" range...there are 18 and 24 inchers in the lake, but I didn't hook any yesterday...

Sandman
Enjoy

Great pictures. Mt Hood is very majestic, and it does look a lot bigger up close. I've never fished Trillium lake before.
I would imagine quite a few people go there because of its location.

It's not fishing related, but I took this picture about 4 years ago when I was still driving truck.

Cool shot of Mt. Hood...looking east, heading up highway 26...almost to Government Camp...

I knew that you would know exactly where it was taken.
It's a beautiful mountain during the winter but I like it after
the snow melts too because you can really see all of the variations of the terrain.

Looks like a good place to hold the 2020 Mitchell Mates convention. I'll bring potato salad.
