Hello Again Mates,

Here is another of my favorite fishing spots and this time its a river. About 12 miles from my cabin but only 1/2 hour drive - the logging roads over here are a little better to drive on!

I fished this river several times and caught many wild brook trout in the 8" to 10 " range. I caught this 11" beauty up at those rocks just as the fast water entered the big pool.

You will note that I always have my ever faithful Garcia Mitchell 304 on a Garcia Conolon 2502D light action rod. I have fished with that reel for over 45 years and it still works as well as the day I took it out of it's box. Even though I brought 10 other Mitchell rod and reel combinations with me to fish, my old 304 and Conolon stayed in the back of my truck and were used exclusively. The other ten Mitchells and rods did look cool hanging in the rod rack in the cabin though :sHa_lol: . In the two weeks of fishing 6 streams /rivers, I fished both in the morning and late afternoon daily, I never saw another person while I was on the water. Being twenty miles back in the woods may have something to do with it but that is what makes the fishing awesome!!!! During the two weeks wildlife was also abundant and great to see. I experienced moose, deer, squirrels (a couple of the human kind too!), porcupines, bald eagles, beaver and many different birds - it was just an amazing time.

This is a night in my front yard looking out over the pond. While you can't see much - you're not supposed to.....just the moon on the water. It's dead quiet except for a couple of loons calling out across the pond and you are the only human within about 17 miles. If I ever get to Heaven - I'm sure it will be just like this!

Best Regards,
Chris

Chris,
Wow, those are some beautiful pictures. I have only experienced
anything near that only once or twice in my 74 years. In neither case did the fish cooperate.
You're a lucky man.

Hello Mates,

Thank you for the kind comments. Being back in the "normal" world, I miss being there so much! Having spent the last week or so in a suit/tie, schedules, traffic, meetings and demands....The next trip for hunting in November seems so far off - I think my priorities need re-evaluation. Dries, I would love to spend time with you fishing my remote / secret fishing spots...You are always welcome at my cabin anytime. :sCh_fisherman:

Best Regards,
Chris

Randy,
Just the thought of that scares the pickles out of me!!! :sFun_shocked:
In the fall, the locals set fire to the underbrush here, but they are campfires to what you guys out West are experiencing.
LUCK,

Ted Lanham
