Does anyone remember the cost of a Mitchell 300 in the 1960 & 1970's? Just curious, I owned 3 of them in the mid 60's but can't remember what they cost.

I inherited a 300 with the box it came in from my father and he had hand written what he paid for it in 1969, $13.99.

jlslavey,
I bought my first 300 in 1963 when I left the Navy. I don't remember exactly, but I remember it being a lot more than a Zebco 33 at $19.95. In the 70s I saw some of the new "discount" stores selling them for $15 and military bases selling them for a bit more than $10.

It seems to me that they were about $30 Canadian, about the 1969 or 70. I could not afford one then, being just married. I bought a Mitchell 320 for about half that. I also got a good buy on an Intrepid Black Prince, made in England and a fine reel. Second hand with rod for about $12.

I bought a 300 and a 308 for about $14 or so when I was posted to Germany. I bought them around 1977.
