Drag washers

I interchange spools between a Mitchell 308 and a 308A. Any harm in adding the 308A teflon and fiber drag washers to the spools that do not have them?
to the Mitchell Reel Museum.I never got into changing the drag washers around to meet my needs, but I have read a few posts about that where the mates played with that.
The schematic on 308As that I looked at used a fiber washer, so if you've got one without a washer try one or the other or both and see which works best for you.
